Beginner Lesson Program
HEEC has developed a specialized Beginner Program that allows new
equestrians to set realistic riding goals. Our program is summarized below.
Beginner Lesson Program
Starter Lessons will teach your child how to properly groom and tack up their horse. We will also focus on teaching the parts of the horse, parts of the tack and how to properly clean them. During their riding lesson on lunge line, they will learn the proper leg, seat and hand positions. They will learn the correct aids to make the horse walk, trot, turn, back and halt. We utilize gymnastic exercises, teaching the child balance while on the horse. Once your child has mastered these skills, they will graduate to our Intermediate level.
Intermediate Lessons for Beginners are for students ready to ride independently in the arena. We will focus on fine tuning their equitation at the walk, trot and canter. We will be teaching how to obtain the correct diagonals at the trot as well as how to ask for correct leads at the canter, once your child is ready. Students are allowed to show at this level as long as they have proven they know their correct diagonals and/or leads during lessons.
Advanced Lessons for Beginners are for students ready to start jumping! Each child will start out with a single cross rail. We will focus on teaching the correct equitation position over fences. At this level, your child will also be introduced to asking their horse/pony for lead changes. We will also teach your child the correct way to enter a ring, do a courtesy circle and jump a full course in great style. Once these skills are learned, they will be ready to show in over fences classes. Come one guys - let's go show!
Good Grade Incentive
HEEC believes in promoting learning at the farm as well as at school. Education plays a large role in the levels of success to be achieved in life, and we would like to show our support! In return for all of you or your child's hard work at school, we offer a Good Grade Incentive. All of our active students will be rewarded with one (1) free lesson for maintaining an "A" average, "A Honor Roll", or 3.5 GPA. Please ask your trainer for details!
